Stitcher for Podcasts App Reviews

an absolute must - now even better

Stitcher has been my favourite app since I discovered it but the new design makes it even better. I have lived in many places in the world and this is the best way to keep up with my favourite radio programs from all the different countries. The suggestions are spot on, too. If you have a smart phone or tablet and love radio you need this app!

Best podcast app and almost perfect

No question the best designed and thought-through radio / offline / podcast type app out there. I use it for my weekly commutes and love discovering new shows. Only slight improvements would be: 1) better stability when connecting to USB software in car. On some cars (e.g. BMW) it is stable as a rock but on some other models (e.g. Mini) it will crash every 2-3 hours. Could be a car model issue too. 2) would be nice to have the feature to automatically download "favourite" programs in the background on a schedule if on wifi so that the latest shows are ready when I grab my phone for the road. Other than that...brilliant!

Need for account

Deleted since account needed.

Nice GUI, lacking execution

Its an interesting concept, really; once you pay the fee to get rid of the advertising, you cant access the content from BBC anymore. Also, no support for iCloud. Sharing your favourites with someone, requires you to have a Facebook account. Im not making this up.

I like the old version.

In this new version the app doesnt show the news anymore. Im not sure how to get it back..

In The Headlines

WTF? My favourite part of Stitcher was the "In The Headlines"... Can you please add that back? I know the Front Page has changed now to incorporate podcasts Im interested in, but I dont want to have to sift through it to find the In the Headlines stuff. Bring it back, just as a separate playlist, please!

Bad update.

Although the UI is better now but the functionality is worst than before. The front page is now mixed with the subscribed podcasts, making it useless. The start up time is super slow and crashes often. Ads are now too intrusive. The update has turned a great app to a mediocre one.

Great app

Great app. Great user interface which is always improving.

Thanks

Through this App I have discovered a lot of podcasts that entertain me weekly. Thank you.

Yay!

Love getting all of my podcasts in one place! UPDATE: Ive been using Stitcher for two years now. I still love it!

Love this app!

All my favourite podcasts streaming wherever I want? Yes please! Love it!

Great app, perfect for podcast streaming.

Great app, perfect for podcast streaming. Use it daily, at least 2-4 hrs.

Missing features...

Cant choose stream instead of download. Cant choose play current podcast then stop. WTF? Must delete download cache after every session. Tedious!

Nasty ursurper

This bad and confusing update has ruined the stitcher interface :(

Stitcher

All the changes over the years for the worst. Now it rarely starts.

Ruined by ads, bugs

Other than the smart suggestions for new programs, this app offers no competitive advantage on iOS for podcast audiences, and no purpose at all if youre interested in video episodes or any show notes containing links. Sometimes the app launches with the "loading" image covering everything. Playback sometimes stops unexpectedly rather than continuing through the playlist. After playing an episode, it may still be marked as unplayed. Icons showing downloaded/played status dont display correctly. Thumbnails for cover art dont always display correctly. The app is not designed with iOS in mind, so it cannot seamlessly resume operation—it has to be launched and quit like an old-school desktop application. If you can overlook all these issues, and you can get used to seeing and hearing ads a whole lot, youll have a mediocre podcast app to enjoy.

About to ditch Stitcher

The current version of this app seems to be a massive step backwards. It’s flaky: episodes I have listened to, in my favorites list, keep getting brought back as “unheard”. This wouldn’t bother me except that Stitcher REMOVED the “mark as heard” button the app used to have, so I have no way of skipping past these episodes. At random, then, I sometimes have to listen to the same episode two or three times as Stitcher randomly decides I haven’t heard something that I have and brings it back for me. Upgrading to Stitcher Pro seems to have been a mistake, too, as the app’s desire to SKIP ads for me, now, seems to cause the app to hang or crash. Buggy, buggy, buggy. I’m so frustrated that I’ve started using the “Podcasts” app again. That’s how desperate I am.

Just Crashes when opened...
